Heleioporus albopunctatus
A large, robust, dark chocolate-coloured frog bearing over the entire back, sides and limbs, numerous, regularly spaces, large spots or blotches of white, cream or pale yellow. The adult male has one large sharp, black spine and one or two smaller spines on the first finger. Males 56-77mm and females 60-85mm.

Advertisement call, a short, high-pitched call described by Main and Lee as 'coo', repeated at a rate of slightly more than one per second. the call was analysed by Littlejohn and Main (1959).

Breeding biology, the 250 to 700 eggs are laid in a burrow in autumn in the form of a foam nest, and take from 10 days to four weeks to hatch metamorphosis is in September and October. the tadpoles have been found by Lee in milky water or in clear ponds. The dorsal surfaces are iridescent gold with scattered, minute, black spots and there are six to seven rows of upper and three rows of lower labial teeth.
